Q&A: Can I Detox if I have Histamine Intolerance or MCAS?
Dec 19, 2023Note: Even though this question was about Cellcore and parasite cleansing, it applies to any detox protocol.
Histamine Reactions, Detoxing & Parasite Cleansing
Histamine issues, a hallmark of MCAS, can pose challenges when considering parasite cleansing or any other detox protocol. Aggressive reactions to supplements may impede progress, necessitating a phased approach. Anti-inflammatory herbal supplements that can calm down mast cells can be introduced first.
Nutritional Considerations for Histamine Issues
For those battling MCAS, histamine intolerance or hypersensitive on a plant-based diet, addressing nutrient deficiencies becomes paramount. Deficient enzymes, such as DAO, crucial for histamine breakdown, can exacerbate symptoms. Genetic mutations in enzymes like HNMT may also contribute to severe symptoms. Personalizing your diet based on genetic insights can provide significant support in managing histamine-related challenges.
- If you have mutations in these genes, you may benefit from following a low-histamine diet or a predominantly low-histamine diet
- You can support DAO activity with vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, magnesium, copper and iron
- You can support HNMT activity with copper, vitamin B6 and vitamin C
Calming Down Mast Cells
Calming down mast cells first is very important because this will allow you to introduce more supplements and be able to complete detox protocols without herxing excessively. Mast cells are cells that release histamine. Some herbs that help calm down mast cells include:
- Quercetin
- Nettles
- Curcumin
- Bromelain
It is always best to start with one ingredient formulas that way you can see how you react. I will cover this in more detail when I talk about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Histamine Intolerance.
Nervous System Dysregulation and MCAS
Unraveling the complexities of MCAS often reveals a common thread of nervous system dysregulation. Whether stemming from unresolved trauma or the taxing experience of managing histamine issues, working on nervous system regulation is foundational. Therapies like Cellular Release Therapy can play a pivotal role in creating a safer internal environment, allowing for more effective health interventions. I worked with Sunlit Pathways to address trauma at the early stages of regulating my nervous system. I recommend understanding your stress response first before deciding on the best way to tackle it. What works for the 'fight and flight' response, may not work for 'freeze' and can make it worse.
Gradual Introduction of Drainage Protocols
Achieving stability before delving into drainage protocols is paramount. For individuals struggling with MCAS or hypersensitivity, a longer and more gentle introduction to drainage may be necessary. Gradual incorporation ensures that the body can adapt, making the process more tolerable and effective in the long run.
Embarking on a health journey marked by MCAS demands patience, personalized strategies, and a commitment to holistic well-being. By understanding the nuances of histamine reactions, tailoring nutrition to individual needs, addressing nervous system dysregulation, and introducing drainage protocols with care, we can allow the body ti become more resilient and tolerate aggressive detox protocol.
Personal Note: Having struggled with MCAS myself, I hope my journey provides insights and encouragement for those navigating similar paths. Remember, every individual's experience is unique, and finding your personalized balance is key to reclaiming health and vitality.
